Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the Vidmoji Android app and this website (www.vidmoji.com) handle information.

Who we are

Vidmoji is operated at www.vidmoji.com. For questions, a copy of your account data, or a deletion you cannot finish in the app, email info@vidmoji.com.

The app

Vidmoji keeps a catalog of photos and videos on your phone. A floating bubble can match a tag while you type in another app and attach that photo or video. You can also publish a vidmoji on your account so other people can see it.

Account

You can sign in with email and password, Google, or Facebook. Google and Facebook confirm that sign-in. Facebook login asks for your email and public profile. We do not receive your Google or Facebook password.

Firebase stores, for the account you sign in with:

Other people can see the name and handle on your profile, and the name you post under on a comment.

On this phone

These stay on the device until you publish, clear them, or uninstall:

If Android backup is on for this phone, that backup can include this app data.

Camera, microphone, and your library

The camera and microphone are used when you record a photo or video inside Vidmoji. Vidmoji does not record them in the background. Photo and video access is used to import media you pick. On older Android versions that permission is access to device storage.

What the bubble reads

The accessibility service stays off until you turn it on. The app explains what it does before Android settings open.

While a text field is focused, the service reads the text in that field. The last word is the tag it matches. It can remove that word when you tap a match, and it can paste into the field when you use the copy step.

Password fields are skipped, including visible passwords and web password fields. Vidmoji does not save keystrokes, does not keep a keystroke log, and does not upload that field text. The text stays in memory while the bubble is running so the match can update. It is discarded when the bubble is no longer using it. The app you are typing in is saved on this phone only as a package name, so the bubble can sit where you left it.

The bubble also needs permission to draw over other apps. It runs as a foreground service, and the notification permission is for Vidmoji’s own bubble notification. If the other app will not take the photo or video, Vidmoji opens a share or copy step. The app you share into then receives that file.

Published vidmojis

Publishing uploads the file to Firebase Storage and a listing to Firestore, under your account. Photos are JPEG and videos are MP4, up to 80 MB. A public vidmoji gets a link and can be watched by other people. A private one stays on your account without a public link.

The listing includes:

Trigger tags you set are saved on the account so the same words can match on another sign-in. Those are tags you choose. They are not a copy of what you type in other apps.

Activity on the account

Firebase also stores, for the signed-in account:

Admins can read reports and can hide a vidmoji. A vidmoji you reported stays out of your catalog while it is reviewed.

Birthday and age

Creating an account asks for a birthday. We store that date on the phone and with the account in Firebase. It is used to tell whether the account is under 13. It is not shown on your public profile, and it is not checked against an ID.

Vidmoji is for people 13 and older. If the birthday is under 13, Home, the library, the player, and the bubble stay on general vidmojis, that account can only publish general content, and ads stay off. 13 or older can see vidmojis rated 13 and older. If an account should be removed, email info@vidmoji.com.

Instagram

Connecting Instagram is optional. It uses Facebook login for a professional Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page. The permissions asked are instagram_basic, pages_show_list, and pages_read_engagement. Vidmoji then stores the handle, account id, name, and profile photo address on this phone. You can also type a handle without connecting Meta. The app works without Instagram. Connecting Instagram does not let Vidmoji post to that account.

Crash reports and usage

Release builds send crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics so a failure can be diagnosed. A report can include the device, a crash trace, and the signed-in account id.

The app includes Firebase Analytics. Google can receive basic usage, such as app opens, and a device or app-instance identifier.

How we use information

We use this information to run your account, keep your catalog, match a tag on the phone, publish and show vidmojis the way you set them, apply the age filter from the birthday, handle reports and blocks, diagnose crashes, measure basic app use, show a banner on eligible free accounts, and record a Plus purchase.

Ads

A free account that is 13 or older can see a banner under the player while watching a vidmoji. The banner can refresh as you move between vidmojis. Plus removes that banner. An account whose birthday is under 13 does not see the banner, and the advertising software is not started for that account. The banner is not shown on the floating bubble, the keyboard, or the share step.

When a banner loads, Google Mobile Ads can receive an advertising identifier, device information, and an IP address so Google can choose and measure the ad. We do not sell your personal information.

Plus

Plus is a one-time purchase through Google Play. It is not a monthly subscription. Buying Plus removes the banner. Google Play processes the payment. Vidmoji does not receive your card number. The app stores Plus on this phone from that purchase, and a Free or Plus flag is saved with your account settings in Firebase. Google Play keeps its own record of the purchase. Deleting your Vidmoji account does not cancel that purchase with Google.

Delete account

Delete account, on the Account screen, removes the Firebase sign-in and the data stored for you: profile, username reservation, birthday, the Free or Plus flag saved with the account, published vidmojis and their files, likes, dislikes, saves, comments, subscriptions, subscriber entries you created, reports, views, blocks, trigger tags, and notifications.

Photos, videos, and settings that exist only on this phone stay on this phone until you delete them or uninstall the app.

Cookies

www.vidmoji.com does not set its own cookies, and it does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Ads described above are in the Android app. The pages load fonts from Google, so a visit sends the usual request, including an IP address, to Google. The app does not use browser cookies. It keeps the on-device information described above, and account information in Firebase. A visit to the site does not send the catalog or the text you type in other apps.

Who else handles data

Firebase, a Google service, hosts accounts, the database, file storage, crash reports, and usage measurement. Google Play processes the Plus purchase. Google Mobile Ads serves the banner on eligible free accounts. Google and Meta handle the sign-in you choose. Their own policies cover what they do as that provider.

Changes

We can update this policy. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version. Using the app or this site after that date means the current version applies.
